We photograph with film because future generations deserve better than a JPEG.

Our Story

The way Jillian tells it, the main reason she swiped right on Ethan was because he had a tripod in his photo—and any man willing to carry a tripod up a mountain must really love photography. Even in the early days many of our dates involved brining our cameras along. Soon these dates turned into trips: New York in the rain, Scotland with it’s howling wind, Alaska all bright ice and big sky, Puerto Rico with its powerful oceans, and many a trail right in our home state of Colorado. Somewhere in there we became each other’s favorite foreground—falling deeply and madly in love.

Photography is woven into how we explore, how we connect, and how we see the world—and falling into weddings felt like a natural extension of that. While shooting together, we’ve learned to work as a team. Jillian is the critical eye and the collector of tissues—she’ll fix a stray curl, pin a boutonnière, and absolutely cry during vows. Ethan is the steady one—you’ll forget he’s there until you get the photos and realize he saw everything. We trade cameras, share ideas, and switch between film and digital in a way that feels natural and seamless.

We love weddings because they pull every kind of feeling into one day: the quiet nerves of early morning, the anticipation of the first look, the moment of sheer joy when you see the love of your life down the aisle, and the celebration and warmth of the reception. We make space for all of it. Sometimes that means giving a gentle nudge; sometimes it means stepping back and letting life do its thing.

“A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.”

Annie Leibovitz

But why Film?

Digital photography is fast, forgiving, and infinitely adjustable. It's also why so many wedding galleries start to blur together. The consistency of the photos makes for beautiful storytelling and albums, but doesn’t give you the photo you want to blow up to the size of a poster and hang on your wall.

Film isn't forgiving. Every frame is a commitment. You read the light, you trust your instincts, you press the shutter and what comes back from the lab is exactly what was there. Each shot is unique and has its own texture and warmth. It’s art in a way that a digital file (even a beautifully edited one) has a hard time replicating.

We shoot hybrid. We take the best of both worlds. We use digital to make sure we never miss a moment. We use film to make sure the ones that matter most feel the way they should. What you get back is a gallery that contains both storytelling and artistry. Real moments, real emotions, real texture.

Your Dynamic Duo

We've spent enough time working together that we trade cameras and switch between film and digital without thinking about it. Jillian's the critical eye, she’ll never miss the details and absolutely feel every moment of your ceremony. Ethan's the steady presence, he brings calm guidance to your day.

We don't hire freelance second shooters. When you book SolPine, you get both of us: two photographers who learned to see the world the same way, with cameras in hand, usually somewhere with a good view.

We take 24 couples a year. That's it. Not because we can't do more, but because doing this well requires actually knowing you, your day, your people, and what matters most to you. Twenty-four couples means we can give that to every single one.

Meet Jillian

Founder | Photographer | Outdoor Enthusiast | Goofball

Jillian has been shooting on film since before it came back in style. That Pentax K1000 that she learned on in 2010 is still on her camera strap at every wedding. Not for nostalgia, but because it still makes great photographs.

Over the years she’s worked across commercial, portraiture, events, and landscapes, which means she shows up to your wedding with a trained eye and a broad set of skills. She moved to Colorado in 2021, met Ethan, and made the leap into weddings just a couple years later.

On the wedding day, Jillian has an eye for details and a heart swelling with joy for you and your loved ones. She keeps things moving throughout the day but makes sure to pause when the moment calls for it.

Jillian is known for her bad jokes, “can do” attitude, type-A planning style, and optimism in the face of adversity (wind, we’re talking about wind).

The one who shows up early, stays late, and carries the extra layer just in case.

Meet Ethan

Photographer | Director of Lighting | Gear Nerd | Thrill Seeker

Ethan has been working as a commercial photographer since 2015, meaning he has spent nearly a decade being paid to make things look exactly right under any conditions. Architecture, commercial product work, maternity portraits, all disciplines that sharpen his skill set of knowing how to find the shot even when the circumstances aren’t cooperating.

His love of gear and all things technical when it comes to cameras always leads him to pushing the limits of creativity and lighting. He brings that eye to every wedding. When the lighting is bad, Ethan fixes it. When the background is busy, Ethan finds a cleaner angle. During portraits he directs with quiet specificity, which is why couples who say they hate being in photos love working with him.

On the wedding day you may forget he’s there, but you’ll remember when you see the gallery.

The second set of eyes
that makes all the difference.

Sound like people you want at
your wedding?

We’d love to hear about your day!
